Layers of Unity: Dual-Twist Sterling Silver Stefana
Crafted entirely from high-quality 925 sterling silver, each crown begins with a simple, rounded base that supports its layered design. Along this base, two continuous silver elements are expertly shaped and positioned: a twisted silver plate creating broad reflective facets, and a finely twisted wire offering delicate, intricate texture. Together, these components form a captivating interplay of light, depth, and movement.
The twisted plate provides wide, gleaming surfaces that catch and reflect light dramatically, giving the crowns a bold, sculptural brilliance. In contrast, the twisted wire adds subtle spirals and fine detailing, enriching the design with depth and sophistication. The seamless fusion of these textures creates a layered, harmonious aesthetic that mirrors the complexity and unity of marriage.
In the Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony, the stefana hold profound meaning. Joined by a ribbon, they form a visible sign of the sacred bond blessed upon the bride and groom. The circular crowns symbolise the honour and glory bestowed by God as the couple enters their new life together. During the Crowning, the priest exchanges the stefana three times above their heads, invoking unity, spiritual protection, and the shared responsibility with which they will guide their home.
Once the ceremony concludes, the crowns are reverently removed, marking the beginning of the couple’s journey as husband and wife. Many newlyweds preserve their stefana in a glass display case, placing them in a special corner of their home — often the bedroom — as a lasting reminder of their vows, blessings, and the sacredness of the moment they were united.
Each pair is individually made to order, meaning no two crowns will ever be identical.
